Thoughts from a Desert Highway

Full speed ahead! thoughts pass like the cacti

Soft rumble of rubber on asphalt reverberates

Aboard an iron carriage pulled forth by harnessed detonation

A hot, dry breath from the canyon gusts proudly at starboard

Red, red earth

So small is the traveler

Less significant than dust

Each breath moves miles, each heartbeat

Two yellow lines - a guide through this land forgotten

Though, some remember well

Barren and desolate, but living still

Damn the fool who kneeled here and whispered “wasteland” through cracked lips!

Neon skies paint watercolors on ancient rock formations, this is a wonderous world

Now stand stark naked and collapse under the weight of the sun

Would you be so wise as not to utter the same foul curse?

Oh listen, speck of dust

For the desert speaks softly

Wiser than time, older than earth

Surrender all complexities and fall like a feather

Continue simple traveler, this is a holy place.
